Marine Rescues Mortgages: Christopher Lee Castle is AFGE
Put yourself in the boots of a US Marine in Afghanistan about to return home. You’ve been on a tour of duty for months, and you can’t wait to get home to your family and friends.
Now picture that home being in danger of foreclosure, and your family is struggling to stay afloat.
This is where former Marine and VA worker Christopher Lee Castle comes in.
“I wanted to work for an organization that gives back to veterans... We are a volunteer military force, and a lot of times they get over looked, so that’s important to me,” Castle said

Castle is just one of the hundreds of thousands of federal workers that keep our communities safe every day – and one of the hundreds of proud AFGE local presidents fighting for workers’ rights across the country. That's why AFGE launched "I Am AFGE" - to increase the public's awareness and appreciation for federal employees by hearing these workers' stories in their own voices.
Castle’s story is the second of 15 short-form documentaries being released every three weeks this year. Each documentary will recount the story of one member or group of members from the same agency, and explore what public service means to them and their families.
